Images of work-in-progress for site-specific installation at Hanina Gallery

WHERE IS THE LINE WITH YOU?, 2015

site-specific installation (elastic band, thread, ink, hardware, existing architecture)

Hanina Gallery, Tel Aviv, Israel

The piece where is the line with you? consists of a double-sided 37.75 meter (approx 120 feet) long piece of elastic band stretched to delineate the entire space of the gallery while navigating the architecture and the other artists' works within it. This is the first time I've created a piece that is site-specific while being physically off site. The process involved a tremendous effort in stretching the muscles of "site-specifity" and presence....and materialized through a complex anatomy of technological devices from sewing machine to airmail to computer and phone apps, not to mention the technology of imagination, visualization, and communication. A huge credit for the success of this installation goes to the curator Noa Heyne, who's profound dedication to the project I am completely indebted to.
